This is official Dell bios ftp.us.dell.com/bios/MXG71A10.EXE


I found myself having a problem because my battery is dead and i didnt
replace it yet. I learned in the past that you must use MXG71A10.EXE
/forceit to flash dell notebooks bios with a dead battery. But i couldnt
use the parameter on the windows flash utility sendspace.com/file/9o6qeq (Windows flasher) Tested by Puhu - posted on this website. So i asked "shakeyplace" on this forum to advise.

This is the A10 version with 2.1 slic shakeyplace made for me sendspace.com/file/inpdk1

I tryed flashing with it from windows and it doesnt work.

So i did this:

1. Download HPUSB application http://www.4shared.com/account/file/...e0c/hpusb.html

2. Download DOS system file http://www.4shared.com/account/file/...d8d82/dos.html

3. extract both archives

4. run HPUSB format your usb stick as fat32 and check quick format and
create a dos startup disk - browse to where you extracted your dos
files.



5. after you have a bootable dos stick copy all files you extracted in
your dos folder to the stick except COMMAND.COM, IO.SYS, dan MSDOS.SYS

6. extract the bios flasher sendspace.com/file/inpdk1

7. copy bios.gz and MXG71A10.EXE to the usb stick.

8. boot from the usb stick and run MXG71A10 -readgzfile /forceit

forceit parameter is only needed if you have a dead battery like mine.

9. Windows 7 Ultimate is now activated in my case. everything went smooth.

Its a long post but maybe someone will find it usefull. I know what
headache i had trying to do this in the past, but these forums i read
for some time now have given me alot of help and i learned alot. Thanks
